Heavy-duty 4WD platform — 300m²/day at 280MPa, 45kg payload. The JT-2 is Jingtao’s largest climbing robot, designed for industrial-scale storage tank and FPSO hull cleaning. Four-wheel magnetic drive with 2,500N holding force per wheel.
8 tanks × 30m diameter × 18m height (3,200m² total):
Large storage tanks and FPSO hulls present a triple threat to maintenance teams: height (15–25 m vertical surfaces), surface area (2,000–5,000 m² per asset), and access constraints (inter-tank spacing as narrow as 4 m). Traditional scaffolding for a single 30 m diameter tank requires 3–5 days of erection, costs $80,000–$150,000 in labor and materials, and exposes crews to confined-space and working-at-height hazards every shift.
The Jingtao Energy JT-2 eliminates this entire scaffold-work cycle. Its four-wheel permanent magnetic drive system delivers 2,500 N of holding force per wheel — enough to carry a 45 kg payload up vertical steel surfaces while traversing weld seams up to 8 mm high without losing adhesion. A single JT-2 covers 280–320 m² per day — The equivalent of a 6-person manual blasting crew — with zero personnel on the tank shell.
The robot’s 280 MPa ultra-high pressure water jet system strips existing coatings and corrosion products to SA 2.5 (near-white metal, ISO 8501-1) in a single pass. Unlike grit blasting, which generates hazardous dust and requires full containment, UHP water jetting produces no airborne particulate — a decisive advantage for operating refineries where adjacent equipment must remain online during maintenance.
| Metric | Traditional Scaffolding | JT-2 Robot |
|---|---|---|
| Surface prep standard | SA 2.0 (inconsistent) | SA 2.5 (verified by replica tape) |
| Daily coverage per asset | 40–60 m² (6-person crew) | 280–320 m² (single robot) |
| 8-tank campaign duration | 12 weeks (sequential) | 12 days (concurrent) |
| Personnel on tank shell | 6–8 workers | Zero |
| Confined space entries | 200+ entries per tank | Zero |
| Coating adhesion (ISO 4624) | 8–12 MPa | 18.3 MPa |
| Total campaign cost | $640,000–$1,200,000 | 85% cost reduction |
Data sourced from Singapore Pulau Bukom Refinery deployment (Q3 2025). 3,200 m² total surface area across 8 crude oil storage tanks. Independently verified by refinery HSSE and integrity management teams.
1. Four-Wheel Drive with Obstacle Crossing: Most climbing robots use two-wheel or tracked drive systems that stall on weld seams. The JT-2’s independent four-wheel magnetic drive maintains full adhesion when any single wheel crosses an 8 mm weld — no loss of surface contact, no speed reduction.
2. 280 MPa UHP Water Jetting vs. Grit Blasting: Grit blasting requires abrasive media logistics (2–3 tons of grit per tank), dust containment systems, and post-blast cleanup. The JT-2’s UHP water jet achieves SA 2.5 with water alone — no media cost, no dust, no containment structure.
3. Redundant Safety Architecture: Each wheel carries independent permanent magnets — loss of any single wheel’s adhesion does not compromise the robot’s hold. A tether cable with auto-brake provides mechanical backup. ATEX Zone 2 certification allows operation in refinery classified areas without hot-work permits.
4. 18-Hour Continuous Operation: LED illumination package enables night-shift operation. Operators control from 20 m outside the confined space perimeter — no entry permits, no gas monitoring, no rescue team on standby.
