The Jingtao Smart Gas Generator Set converts oilfield associated gas and flare gas — historically wasted through flaring — into reliable on-site power and heat. Ranging from 100 kW to 1,000 kW, these CHP (Combined Heat and Power) units achieve 85% total thermal efficiency by capturing both electricity and exhaust heat, making them the most capital-efficient power solution for remote well sites without grid access.
Unlike diesel generators that burn expensive, trucked-in fuel, or grid connections that may be 50+ km away, these generator sets run on a fuel that is already on your lease — and currently being flared. The smart load-following controller automatically matches generator output to well-site demand, maximizing gas utilization even as production rates fluctuate.
Oil wells produce associated gas — a mixture of methane, ethane, propane, and heavier hydrocarbons — as a byproduct of crude extraction. In remote fields without gas-gathering pipelines, this gas has historically been flared: an environmental liability, a wasted energy resource, and increasingly a regulatory target under global methane reduction commitments.
The Jingtao Smart Gas Generator captures this gas at the wellhead separator, passes it through a fuel conditioning skid (moisture separation + particulate filtration + H₂S-tolerant components), and feeds it into a spark-ignited gas engine coupled to a permanent magnet alternator. The engine’s jacket water and exhaust heat are recovered through heat exchangers, delivering hot water or thermal oil for crude heating, separation, or well-site facilities — achieving 85% total fuel utilization.
The smart load-following controller continuously monitors well-site electrical demand and gas supply pressure. When demand drops (pump cycling off), the controller reduces engine output. When gas supply fluctuates, it adjusts air-fuel ratio to maintain stable combustion. Excess gas is flared only as a last-resort safety measure — The system is designed to maximize gas utilization, minimize flaring.
| Metric | Diesel Generator (Baseline) | JTF Series (Associated Gas) |
|---|---|---|
| Fuel cost per kWh | $0.30 – $0.50 | $0.02 – $0.05 |
| Fuel logistics | Diesel trucking — weekly delivery | Wellhead gas — zero logistics |
| Total thermal efficiency | 35 – 42% (electric only) | ≥85% (CHP: electric + heat recovery) |
| Flaring eliminated | N/A — diesel burns additional fuel | Up to 2,000 Nm³/day per MW — gas that was being flared |
| Annual fuel savings (500kW, 24/7) | $1.3M – $2.2M | $87K – $220K (90%+ reduction) |
| Payback period | Baseline | 6 – 14 months |
